“Amanda has a loving energy that I could feel right from our first Zoom call, so I never felt anxious before a call with Amanda.

One of the biggest things that she has helped me get through is making a big life transition. She's helped me get to a spot where I am a more loving version of myself.

I’ve been coaching with Amanda for three years and I'm in a better spot than I've ever been with my husband.”

- KIM, LIFE COACH

Kim and I are peers, we met in our coaching certification program. Kim is a life coach who loves caring for and helping others. Our interaction isn’t a traditional coach/client relationship, it started as a peer coaching arrangement for our certification and we have been peer coaching for the past three years.

Kim and I are peers, we met in our coaching certification program. Kim is a life coach who loves caring for and helping others. Our interaction isn’t a traditional coach/client relationship, it started as a peer coaching arrangement for our certification and we have been peer coaching for the past three years.

Kim was going through a crisis of identity and needed to make an important transition in her life.

She had been struggling with this decision for over ten years. She wasn’t sure if she could handle it and was worried about what everyone would think.

“I care too much about what people would think.
I was struggling with my relationships and I didn't feel like I could talk to anybody else about my decision.”

Kim was listening to everything she had been told about how she should “be,” and she was struggling to find and listen to her own voice.

She wanted to make the decision and then feel at peace with it. She wanted to be able to love herself and others as this was her nature.

She struggled managing expectations in her marriage and relationships in general.

As a very active and helpful member of her community, she feared her decision would affect her work and how people perceived her.

“I've lost friends, but I've also gained certain people in my life who love me for who I am. After my decision, I felt that if I put myself out there to be a life coach, no one would hire me anymore.”

It was time to make some changes…

Stage #1:

We didn’t go the traditional route where Kim would set goals. Instead, I gave her a safe, non-judgemental space that she couldn’t find anywhere else. We used that to explore thoughts about her life, her choices, and her inner world.

Stage #2:

I took a gentle but direct approach in reflecting or mirroring her thinking and encouraged her to be curious about the thinking patterns that seemed to create the most suffering. I questioned her stories so she could analyze them from a different perspective.

Stage #3:

Once Kim had made her decision, I helped her work through the consequences, but also offered support so she could express her feelings in our weekly sessions.

Finally, we worked on her expectations from the people around her.

“The biggest thing with Amanda is that she’s not biased. Amanda was just really good at holding space for me. She empowered me by giving me the space to find my own answers and to come up with my own plan.”

As a result...

  • Kim was finally able to make her decision and was able to find peace in her life.
  • She has a better relationship with her husband and is able to love herself and others.
  • She didn’t end her coaching career and is keeping the option open for when she feels ready.

“I think after being in my head for so long, working with Amanda brought relief from my internal judgments and expectations and I felt hopeful that everything will be ok.

I've noticed my relationships are so much better, even though the other person never changed.”

Why a coach made all the difference...

“Amanda's really, really good at just listening, and not giving me advice unless I asked for it.

Amanda has my best interests at heart.

She remembers the things that are important to me. She’s generous in her love, time, and energy that she gives in her sessions.”

My approach to peer-coaching, especially with Kim, has been highly personalized.

While initially we used a structured method, we moved on to a mix of structured and freeflow coaching to make sure Kim had the safe space she needed to work through her problems.

“I've had this habit of thinking that other people are thinking the worst of me. Amanda really helped me get out of that negative thought pattern.”

I’m so proud to say that Kim found her own path, eventually solving her own problems. In the end, she was very happy we met on this peer-coaching journey.

“I definitely enjoy working with her. She's eloquent and smart. I really look forward to our weekly calls.

Amanda has helped me see that, maybe the things that I worry about will actually happen, but I'll still be okay.

I would tell people to run to Amanda if they needed help.”
