But Sara was struggling to find relief.
When we met she was going through a lot, both in her personal and professional life.
“I felt a little lost. My work felt like an obsession. I had recently been promoted and felt stressed about not really knowing what was expected of me and what my path at my company was.Â
I was seeking a different way of thinking.”
At work, Sara was facing uncertainty and was not happy with the fact that she would get more reactive in meetings than she wanted to. Sara wanted to be in control. This caused frustration and affected her performance.
She wanted to learn effective communication and achieve a higher level of personal and professional development. She wanted clarity and confidence to allow her to create the life she wanted.
At home, she was going through a difficult divorce. She felt overwhelmed and completely isolated.
“Neither my friends nor my family understood exactly what was going on, and that's incredibly isolating.”
It was time to make some changes...
Stage #1:
Through our work together, Sara realized that she was constantly in survival mode. She was able to see that she tends to please people and that this tendency wasn’t helping with her long-term goals.
Stage #2:
We worked on mindset issues, and she learned that she is not responsible for other people’s feelings. We discussed and applied the concepts of clean pain vs. dirty pain and practiced how to process life events without layering on shame and guilt.
We then worked on ways she could be her authentic self by separating her identity from what she was made to believe about herself from who she actually is.
Stage #3:Â
We did a lot of thought models and exercises to reveal her thinking and rewire unhelpful thought patterns across her personal and professional life.
As a result...
“I was having better conversations and became very intentional at work.
I learned that feeling isolated and overwhelmed makes you afraid. And being afraid is not a great position to start from, whether it’s at work or at home.”
“I applied a lot of Amanda’s exercises and tools in personal conversations. She has helped me be a little more compassionate, both with myself and with others.”

My approach for Sara included a mix of resource materials and 1:1 coaching where she could figure out important questions about herself.

Acting as a sounding board, I tried to provide a safe, non-judgmental space so Sarah could think out loud and offered intentional questions that allowed her to find the answers she was looking for.
